The Indian Coast Guard is a multi-mission organization, conducting round-the-year real-life operations at sea. Despite being relatively small, it has a wide range of task capabilities for both surface and air operations. The organization is headed by the Director General Indian Coast Guard (DGICG) exercising his overall command and superintendence from the Coast Guard Headquarters (CGHQ) located at New Delhi. At CGHQ, he is assisted by four Deputy Director Generals of the rank of Inspector General, and other senior officers heading various staff divisions.

Indian Coast Guard 2017 eligibility criteria
Educational Qualification: Passed Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (i.e, 1st Semester to 8th Semester for BE/B.Tech Course or 1st year to last year for Bachelor Degree Candidates wherever applicable) and Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% aggregate in mathematics and physics for S.no-1 & 2. 12th class pass with 60% marks in aggregate and should posses current/valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued/validated by DGCA for S.no – 2.
Age Limit: 01 Jul 1993 to 30 Jun 1997 (Both dates inclusive) for S.no-1, 01 Jul 1993 to 30 Jun 1999 (Both dates inclusive) for S.no- 2 & 01 Jul 1993 to 30 Jun 1999 (Both dates inclusive) for S.no-3
